Land intelligence
Every field has a story.
Let’s understand it.
A snapshot can tell us something about land. A connected record over time can help us ask better questions.
The Land Passport · In development
A field’s story,
carried forward.
The Land Passport is our concept for a lasting record of a parcel: its condition, farming history, interventions and outcomes.
Its purpose is to make learning cumulative. Each observation should retain its context so a future decision can build on what is already known.
Place & context
Where the field is, how it is used and the local conditions that shape it.
Soil & water
Dated observations and test results, with their source and limitations.
Farming history
Crops, management practices and the farmer’s account of what has changed.
Actions & outcomes
What was tried, what it required and what was observed afterwards.
Proposed structure. No field records are displayed.
The responsibility behind the record
Useful information.
Understood in context.
Know where a finding comes from
Sources, dates, collection methods and uncertainty need to travel with the information.
Design around a decision
A record should help answer a relevant question about the field. Collecting more data is useful only when its purpose is clear.
Set expectations before collecting
Permissions, access and data handling need to be defined before any field data is collected. The final data model and collection process are still to be established.
Good work begins with listening
Bring your perspective.
Build with purpose.
A field you know. A question you’re studying. A rural challenge worth understanding.
